The Pumpkin Head

Andrew and I had our first Halloween together; this would be our second big holiday together as Mr & Mrs! We had to do something a little different and create a new “Wryghte” tradition, in flew the “pumpkin head” idea. I had seen a video on Instagram of a couple carving pumpkins together, and then getting updated portraits with a bit of a twist, the pumpkins were on their heads! I thought this was a super fun idea, and asked Andrew if he would be willing to put a squash on his head. Honestly, I kind of expected him to say no, but to my happy surprise he said, “Sure lets do it!”. That night we headed to our local grocer and got two lovely pumpkins; on our next date night we decided to carve them up! Carving the pumpkins was a lot of fun! We had “spooky” music playing, and a pupper who was very curious about why we were gutting a pumpkin.

Now that we had our pumpkins carved and ready to go, the next step was actually getting the photos taken! Handy for us, we had all the equipment nearby! Nearby as in one room away;) For some unfortunate reason I decided it would be a great idea to take the photos on an evening where it was absolutely FREEZING outside! Out we went with our Tripod, camera and pumpkins. Taking the photos was really fun, a lot of laughter and craziness happened. We like to think that’s is how are couples feel when they are on a session with us! Relaxed, and just having fun with their loved one! Anyways, after about 15 minutes outside, a couple numb fingers and toes, we headed back inside to warm up.

Here are the results of our new Halloween tradition!

Head over to our Instagram to see behind the scenes footage of us creating these photos!

We were so happy with the results! Some things we learned during the creation of these photos: A pumpkin on the head is a lot heavier then it looks, Canada is cold, and creating traditions as a married couple is really, really fun!
